Ruwaida Studio Stylist
Grew up in a family salon from a young age and started off my career doing hair in the 1970’s at Sassoon’s in Athlone. Moved on to Johannesburg to further my career and qualify with my trade test.
I always had a passion for hairdressing, loved meeting new people and building close relationships.
Having owned my own salon in Johannesburg for 30 years has given me the years of experience and knowledge I have passed on to my daughter Aneesa.
In 2000 I decided to test the waters in Cape Town and went on to work at Partners Hair Design for 2 years. I had the privilege to study the Toni and Guy technique which inspired me by their philosophy of pushing the boundaries of hairdressing and delivering creativity, quality and consistency to every client.
Opening Vogue Hair Design in 2009 was a challenge and took a long time for clients to build trust in the way I do hair but has got me to where we are now and has been a special journey. Being a qualified hairdresser never stopped just there. I Traveled to London in 2010 to do the Vidal Sassoon course. I now have an eye for detail and believe in educating myself and my staff to keep up to date and informed. Keeps myself grounded in producing a high quality service.
I strive to keep good relationships with my clients and try to give a homely feel to the salon.

Hair has always been a huge passion of mine from high school working in my mother’s salon. Always confident about what I was doing and growing relationships with my clients. With hard work and dedication I went on to study hairdressing full time at Carlton Hair International in Johannesburg. Took part in Avant Garde Upstyle competitions, did hair for bridal expos and for the IPL cricket styled the models which sharpened my skills to work under pressure.
Went on to work at Carlton Hair Cavendish in Cape Town, in that time I traveled to London to do the Vidal Sassoon cutting Course. The experience gave me the knowledge I use now and changed my outlook. Hair became an art and creation of my love for what I do. I later trained Carlton students on cutting through what I learned in London.
In 2011 I went to Paris and focused more on fashion, the crafting and distinctive styling of hair. Coming back I joined Vogue Hair Design and strive to improve myself and the salon to offer the best service. My mother and I decided to travel to morocco in 2012 to learn more about the Argan oil that is found in the Brazilian which gave us a clear understanding on how to use the product. As a qualified and experienced Hairstylist.
Styling for major photo shoots such as FHM , Forever New,Fitness USN models. I worked with many celebs at the famous J&B met. I am currently in the process of getting my Masters in colour.
My aim ” making my clients look good so I look good” – Vidal Sassoon
